Jeffrey L. Lay is a Member with Jones Lay PLC. He has been associated with the firm since receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, with honors, in 1982 from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
Mr. Lay handles matters in the area of civil litigation, with emphasis in personal injury, employment law and medical malpractice defense. He was admitted to practice by the Tennessee Supreme Court in 1982. Mr. Lay has also been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a Rule 31 listed Mediator.
Mr. Lay is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the Dyer County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Lay serves on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society. He is also a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation.
Mr. Lay serves as an Elder of the Dyersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is District Chairman of the Davy Crockett District, West Tennessee Area Counsel of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Lay coaches the Dyersburg High School Mock Trial Team. The Dyersburg High School Mock Trial Team placed tenth in the 2012 State Competition, with Jackson Lay being named Best Advocate for the Defense. http://www.tba.org/info/2012-mock-trial-results
